Kinusaiga - No Sow Patchwork Art

£20.00

Kinusaiga is a traditional Japanese art form where crafters create detailed mosaic-like pictures by tucking scraps of fabric into grooves carved into a foam base, entirely without sewing

Invented in Japan in the 1980s, it originally allowed people to reuse precious silk scraps from old kimonos.

In this class we’ll use foam board, recycled fabric scraps (quilting cotton or thin silk work best), a craft knife, a design template, and a small poking tool like a seam ripper , to create  picture for you to take home and admire or gift. It takes a little practice but you’ll pick it up quickly and I’ll support you through the process.
